Thank you for taking the time to learn about Prime Time House. 2013 marks our 25th year of offering hope, choice, and opportunities to people living with mental illness throughout Litchfield County. Since our inception in 1988, Prime Time House has helped hundreds of individuals to return to work, many of whom are still employed today. We are the area’s only provider of evidenced based supported employment services and one of only two Clubhouse programs in the entire state.
We have proven that people with mental illness have talents, strengths and abilities and with support can live full productive lives. We have given people the choice of having a place to go versus isolating at home, a place to build relationships, access support and pursue their goals.
The concept or stereotype around the phrase “mental illness’ often evokes fear and uncertainty for people who aren’t familiar with the various diagnosis. As Sir Francis Bacon once said, “knowledge is power”. The best thing you can do to help an individual with this disease is to decrease the stigma by getting the facts.
Over the next twenty five years we will continue our commitment to promoting health, wellness, and recovery. We will continue to provide an array of employment opportunities so that everyone who wants to return to work has the choice and opportunity do so. We will continue our efforts to educate the public on how our program enhances the local community.
Prime Time House owes much of its success to the support of local employers, foundations, and friends. I invite you all to tour our campus in Torrington or our satellite program, Compass Center in Lakeville. Come celebrate our successes with us and help us to spread the word that having resources and centers of support like ours, is an essential component of a caring and healthy community.
